30 degrees outside, 40 degrees in the glass. Cheers to all the #Jonas
of the world. My #Jonines
night in Italy features a #vintage #nocino,
green walnut liquor home-made following the monks' recipe, and a cute mythological #tale
about the Lithuanian #devil, #velnias.
😈 This story jumped out of my bookshelf by a so-called pure accident, which is never accidental actually. I dedicate it to all my beloved non-Lithuanian friends.
THE MIRACULOUS PIPE
On St. John's night, you should make yourself a pipe. Looking through it, you can see a velnias. One guy made such a pipe. In the evening, when other young folks were dancing at someone’s place, he came to the key hole to peep in with one eye. He saw that those who were dancing like crazy stomping with their legs more than others, were being beaten with a whip by a velnias. He came in and said, “Look here, you fools, just have a look at the velnias lashing your legs with a whip. The heavier he beats you, the faster you stomp.”
That velnias came up to him and asked, “How can you see me?”
He said, “I have a kind of pipe. I look through it with one eye and I see.”
“So which eye did you see me with?”
So the velnias pulled out that #eye.
