Rubina is a mother, working woman and the elected leader of Phule Nagar. She was the first person we met when we arrived here and we knew straight away that she was in charge. We explained our project to her and she loved the idea. She had her own word to share: "EKTA" which means "unity" in Maharati. She explained that her slum is a mix of people from all over India, but people live united as one community. She's a muslim but also likes to participate in other faith's festivals.

I had never been the kind to shy away from silence. But this quiet, his ghostly quiet crept around like us a shadow and seemed to drill a hole right in the middle of my head. And no matter how much I wanted to, I could not look away from him, yet I could say nothing either. I felt stuffy in this uncomfortable silence and guilty for feeling so. My eyes desperately scanned the vicinity for objects he had brought out for the occasion of this meeting. But there was nothing.
Nothing except for silent sadness.
