Currently reading my first John Irving novel- 'The cider house rules'.
Dr. Wilbur Larch runs an orphanage. He is also a gynaecologist and an accomplished abortionist. Hoker Wells is doctor's favorite orphan and he teaches himel everything he knows until one day when Homer decides to go out into the real world. Set in 20th century Maine, the novel questions many morals and it piqued my interest. The story is extremely rich and captivating. It's unlike anything I've ever read.

It has been a long time since I had time to write. But no matter what I'm doing, I'm writing to you." I've been having many wonderful discussions about literature with a lot of wonderful people lately, and in honor of the Women's March today, I want to share a book that reached right into my heart and changed it. I was just starting college when I picked up The Color Purple and at the time, I did so because I was hoping to read a book about race and class struggle and explore more literature by people of color. While this book creates a poignant story around that, it also delved into feminism in a way I had never seen before- this book was the first time I ever found women in literature owning their sexuality and using it for their own gratification. It shows not only homosexuality and bisexuality, but also female masturbation and finding a book that allows female characters to seek their own gratification meant the world to me. This story is beautiful and deep- the things within are relevant and timeless and if you haven't yet had the pleasure, I sincerely hope you pick it up. It has more to offer than you could possibly imagine.
